 Married Name: Naas

 Spouse: George Naas

 Married: 43 years

Career: Self-employed Sales Golden Printing and promotional products. Previously, Business Ed. Teacher

 Retired? No

I graduated from OSU in 1965 with a BA in Secretarial Administration and Business Education. Taught business education classes at high school level with Jefferson County Colorado Schools plus some adult education classes for about 20 years. I was a sales manager with World Book Encyclopedia for 12 years, learning very valuable sales skills and earning national recognition for sales achievement during this time.
From 1968 through present my husband and I have owned and operated Golden Printing Co. It has always been a family company started by my father-in-law in 1959, producing quality printed materials, as my husband was both the owner and the printer who took great pride in his work--and still does!
During the "good" years our main client was the US Government Printing Procurement office and several other really good clients. I kept the books, did the invoicing and taught school. During the "lean" years, I did the same and also sold World Book.
I went into fulltime sales with our own company about 15 years ago and added promotional products (pens, shirts, coffee mugs, etc.) to our capabilities. At this time I’m quite active in three Chambers of Commerce, plus many other networking and/or leads groups--meeting new people on a daily basis, promoting our business, and making lots of new friends along the way! My business network has become a terrific social network as well, and I’m having the time of my life--it is really fun!!
Family: My husband George and I run our business together (just the two of us--no employees at this point). We enjoy going to business networking events together, and really enjoy square dancing together--about three times a week. We met through square dancing in 1966 and have continued this activity off and on throughout all these years.
Our daughter, Rachel, is now 36 years old and is a professor of microbiology and immunology at Morningside College (a small Methodist school) in Sioux City, Iowa. She will be married in December of this year to a fine man who is a professor of philosophy.
Our son Alan is now 31 years old and worked for 7 years for Enterprise Rent-A-Car, but is now going back to school to get a second degree in Human Body and Exercise Science and wishes to become a personal trainer. You should see his own muscles! He is married to a nice lady who is "head genius" at an Apple store.
     We have no grandchildren.
Who are some of the classmates you would like to see again at the 50th Reunion? Pam Miller, Pam Phillips, Mary Ann Dryden
A few places and/or events that you remember: The Hideaway, Dances at the Armory, OSU Homecoming Parades

Career: High School Math Teacher (inspired by Mr. Coltharp)
Retired: Yes, but now I’m a fulltime volunteer/babysitter

Greetings, fellow SHS class mates! Peace and joy to you one and all!
Somehow I’ve turned into a grey haired lady called "Mam" by some, "Mom" by 3 sons and "Grandma" by 4 grandsons. I’m currently eating cookies finding the nerve to write something for my 50th high school reunion (well, actually I did not graduate, but I’m graciously accepted as a SHS graduate by some).
We still live on the banks of Lake Lewisville near Denton, TX in a house designed and built by our architect son. Many mornings see us breakfasting on the screened in porch watching heron, pelicans, hummingbirds, etc. Yet lately we’re closed into our A/C space watching the 100+ temperatures mess with the tomato plants etc.
With 48 years of much-learned marriage behind us, we’ve somehow accepted the daunting 9 hour/day/5 day/week challenge of caring for our 3-month-old twin grandsons, Jacob and James, beginning Sept 8. Are we crazy or brave and are our son and daughter-in-law oh-so-trusting or blind to our greyness? Wow, what one does in the name of love!
Our other two grandsons, Seneca (6) and Alden (4), live in Atlanta, but they get to spend time with us in the summers. Are kids really brighter this generation or... am I getting... duller... no answer please?
We do enjoy some travel – mostly to family in CO, CT, GA, TN, NC, MN and IA. Husband Larry has a great "bucket list" and I plan to tag along with his ambitious aspirations (God willing and the creek don’t rise). We’re currently blessed with good health and enjoy community and church fellowship and growth. What more could I ask!!??!!
Wishing all health and well being!

*Who are some of the classmates you would like to see again at the 50th Reunion?

I am currently the designated OSDH Distance Learning Coordinator for The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Public Health Training Network (PHTN).

I’m sure I left some stuff out, but my fingers are tired. After all I’m almost old. That reminds me—I plan to retire in January of 2012. From one SHS Pioneer to the rest of ya, I hope all y’all are happy and well.

Carl Hiner & Carol Jardot

Years Married: 49
Career: Carl-Payne County Oklahoma Sheriff
Carol-OSU and Career Tech                   Retired? Yes
Tell us about your family: Carl retired as Payne County Sheriff in 2007 after 30 years with the department. I retired in 2009, also after 30 years with OSU and Career Tech. We had no idea that retirement would keep us so busy, but we do enjoy setting our own schedules. We still love living in the country. Carl feeds a few cows, two horses, and a donkey (pasture ornaments). I try to keep up with the vegetable and flower gardening. And, there is always a fence to paint or a fish to catch with the grandkids.
Our son, Randy, has been with the Stillwater Police Department for 25 years, Carla teaches family and consumer sciences at the Lincoln Academy in Stillwater, and Melissa is a realtor in McKinney, TX. Caryn lives in Elgin and Mindy in Durant. Both are involved in farming and ranching with their husbands.
Our eight grandchildren have grown up much too fast. Randy’s oldest son, Kyle, just graduated with an engineering degree from OSU this fall. The younger ones still keep us entertained with their dance recitals, vocal music concerts, cheerleading and sports.
We plan to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary next June.

Attended the University of Tennessee where he played football and met his wife, Carol. We married in '64 -- married now for 47 years.  We were never fortunate enough to have children unless you count our two Cocker Spaniels; neither are with us now.
Began and ended his career in the sign business. Worked for three different companies, lived in Knoxville, Alabama and Texas while traveling selling major signs across the southeast and Oklahoma and Texas for 45 years. Retired in 2007, looking forward to recreational travel, but his stroke in 2008 put an abrupt halt to our plans. Three years later, he has recovered quite remarkably with little physical impairment but has aphasia which makes it hard for him to get the correct words out but does not affect his understanding.
We moved to Oklahoma to be nearer his mother and sisters in 2008.  His passion is still fishing, but last year he picked up his golf again.  He's a master at grill cooking.

Gary Leonard

 Spouse: Janice

From 2004 to 2009, Janice and I lived in Northern Virginia (D.C. area). We sure enjoyed being close to the history and wonderful natural scenery in that part of our country.  But we used our vacation time to travel often back to Dallas to visit family.
I continued to work for Verizon during this time, and was able to be part of a joint Verizon-Government team to help fight the war on terrorism. Though hectic at times, it also provided a sense of purpose and accomplishment. The bulk of Janice’s career has been in the infant bedding field, first as a buyer in the JC Penney headquarters, then as a sales rep with JCP as a customer.
In the fall of 2009, Janice and I moved into retirement, and also moved from D.C. back to Plano, TX, to the home we built there in 1973. It was so good to be back close to family.  Our sons Scott and Derek and their families also live in Plano, so we see them and our two granddaughters very often. Derek’s daughters are 6 and 8 years old, so there are always a lot of girly things going on.
Our retirement is filled with time for friends, traveling, church, bridge, and family history.  In June of this year we enjoyed a trip to France, including a river cruise from Paris to Nice.
We’re looking forward to the reunion, and the opportunity to catch up!

 Career: Teacher                Retired? yes

About me and my family: Robert and I met at the beginning of our freshman year at OSU and married in May of 1962. We will celebrate our 50th anniversary next year. We are retired school teachers, and lived in Colorado Springs from 1968 through 1998. After retirement, we returned to Stillwater to be near family and to help with aging parents.

We have three wonderful children; Robert Kevin, Kimber and Charlie, and six delightful, healthy and active grandchildren; three in Stillwater, two in Nashville, TN and one in Pueblo, CO.

Spending time with the grandkids and traveling to Colorado and Tennessee to keep our family connected keeps us pretty busy in our retirement. We try to have a family reunion at least once a year (often on a houseboat), and every summer we host "Cousin Camp" here in Stillwater with all six kids (no parents allowed). In our free time, we have always enjoyed traveling and all manner of boating activities. We are avid OSU sports fans, and we still support our Denver Broncos. We also attend many Pioneer football, SJHS volleyball and Stillwater YMCA flag football games in which our Stillwater grandkids participate.

Life, in general has been very good to us. We en good health, try to stay active and stayjoy connected to friends and loved ones. We are also attending Robert’s 50th reunion next week, and we feel very blessed to be here for both events!

Spouse: Mary Anne                   Married: 42 years
Career: Physician educator, Now Regents Professor of Medicine at OU College of Medicine

Retired? Yes and no. I retired from the VA after 18 years as Chief of Staff. I continue as Professor of Medicine at the OU College of Medicine and plan on continuing teaching, writing, researching and taking care of patients for the foreseeable future

Tell us a little about you and your family:
My wife, Mary Anne, and I have been married over 42 years. We have two children, Sara and Matthew. Sara was the Executive Assistant to the CEOs of YouTube but they have left YouTube and formed a new company, taking Sara with them on an exciting new venture. She lives in San Francisco. She is not married. Our son, Matthew, married his wife, Lilia, two years ago and they are the parents of our first and only grandchild, Jayna, our pride and joy! (I know – most of you are way ahead of us.) Matthew is the Director of Government Affairs for OPower, a company focusing on energy conservation. They live in Washington, DC.
Mary Anne is Professor of Pediatrics at OU and is a neonatologist. She was the first woman president of the Oklahoma State Medical Association and is currently on the Board of Trustees of the American Medical Association, the only Oklahoma physician to be elected to that Board. She continues to be busy clinically as well.
I am Regents’ Professor of Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine in the Pulmonary Disease and Critical Care Section. I am also the Co-Director of the Oklahoma Tobacco Research Center, part of the OU Cancer Institute. I was one of the original members of the Oklahoma Tobacco Endowment Trust Fund Board, appointed by the Attorney-General, and am very proud of how we have invested those funds in helping to improve our state’s health status. I retired from the VA last summer after 18 years as Chief of Staff, a position I thoroughly enjoyed (most of the time). I am extremely proud of that service and the improvements in patient care that occurred while I was there – not because of me but because of the dedicated people with whom I worked.
Mary Anne and I enjoy traveling, usually associated with business. We’re not traveling as much as when our son lived in Geneva (giving us a chance to touch base with Mac Messenger as well). Of course, now we travel to DC as well as San Francisco as often as possible. We also enjoy bicycling, ballet, going to the Thunder games and a wide variety of activities. We recently moved from the home we had lived in for 36 years, finally downsizing after talking about it for 15 years (we are very deliberate about important decisions!)

Who are you looking forward to seeing at the reunion: Everyone. I always have a great time seeing everyone and am looking forward to this great event!

 Marti Moore White

Career: Artist

Retired? Just getting started!

Tell us a little about you and your family: Joe retired from 3M Company in 1998 and we moved to Tucson from Stillwater, MN, two weeks later. We have been here 12 years now and love the desert. We return to Minnesota every year for a family get together with our two daughters, their husbands and children.  We have four grandchildren ranging in age from 4-13 years old.

After moving to Arizona, I began to work seriously with my art. I am active in several art organizations and have been in administrative positions in all of them. Right now I am on NO boards of directors and enjoying just having the responsibility of a monthly e-mail newsletter for the Contemporary Artists of Southern Arizona. This past spring I set a goal to enter four national juried exhibitions. I was accepted in three and won prizes in two. I feel that my work is coming along nicely.  I work in mixed media, love doing collage and assemblage as well as abstract work in acrylic and mixed media and fiber work in art quilting. You can see my work at my web site www.artbymartiwhite.com

This past spring we bought our second motor home after being without one for several years. This one is bigger, more comfortable to drive and live in. We enjoyed five weeks in cooler climates this summer and look forward to taking it out closer to home more in the coming year. My older sister, Betty Valder, who was 19 years older than me, died this spring. Over Memorial Day weekend we had a celebration of her life in Buhl, Idaho. There were over 50 members of the Moore family there as well as many friends. It was a very special time. All of our children and grandchildren as well as my sister, Patty Martin’s, SHS class of 1963, children and grandchildren made the trip to Idaho.

Joe, SHS class of 1958, is active in Habitat for Humanity and does volunteer work at our church as well. He enjoys working with his computer – is presently scanning years of old slides and digitizing them. He is an avid reader, can be found a various local coffee shops daily with his iPod feeding an audio book into his ears. I love audio books as well, but usually only listen in the car. I spend a lot of hours in the car.

Who are some of the classmates you would like to see again at the 50th Reunion?

I have not been to a reunion for many years. It will be fun to see whoever comes. I hope to make it to this one! The timing is much better for our schedules.
